Current sermon series: Joy in the Journey: A Study of Paul's Letter to the Philippians
September 5, 2010 - Philippians 4:10-19
This Sunday we will continue our examination of Philippians 4:10-19. We will look at it from a different perspective than last week. We will focus our discussion on three very familiar statements that Paul makes in this short portion of the letter. They are the following:
- I have learned to be content in every situation.
- I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
- My God shall supply all my need according to His riches in glory.
Please read this portion of scripture and think about the following items.
1 What was Paul’s situation when he wrote these words. Why does that make them so much more meaningful.
2. Meditate on each one of these statements individually and think about specific ways in which they can apply to your circumstances in life.
3. What do these statements say about he nearness of God to us throughout life?
4. How does the reality of these truths effect our general outlook on life and how will people see a difference in us?
Remember that the monthly Men’s Breakfast will be at 8AM on Saturday. We will be viewing the first part of a very well prepared video about the missionary journeys that combines drama, narration and actual footage of the places he actually traveled.
On Sunday morning we plan to have a missionary report from Ben Anderson, Tim Heath and Jesse Vaught who are doing a survey trip around Southeast Asia. We will hear of the things they have discovered during their time in the region. Also, we will start a new series of lessons during the Bible instruction hour on the history of Grace Theology. We look forward to seeing you at 9:45AM for this interesting time of learning.
Have a great week. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday morning.
In Christ,
Pastor Don |
